The story behind the
Fancy Jordan Foundation |
|
|
Fancy
was a very special horse to us. She was a very
sweet, kind and patient girl that still had some
fire in her. She came to us as a horse for my
husband. She was the first horse he ever owned,
and she taught him well. She taught him about
the deep bond and trust that can exist between
a horse and rider. As the years passed, my husband
got a new horse and Fancy then took on the very
important job of being a lead horse for our guided
trail rides. Then she eventually moved into semi-retirement.
At this point she took on the most important
job ever, taking little cowboys and cowgirls
on guided rides. Most times, this was the first
time riding a horse for these little buckaroos.
And Fancy took this job very seriously ensuring
her riders were safe and had a great first experience.
The years started to catch up to Fancy, then
we had to retire her from riding completely.
We promised her that this would be her forever
and ever home and that we would take the best
care of her. She was able to enjoy her final
days taking it easy and eating good green grass.
Fancy is no longer with us, and she is still
missed very much. We feel peace knowing that
her final days were good to her and that she
was loved and well cared for.
We have 18 horses here on the ranch currently,
and some of them are approaching their semi
retirements and retirements. We have made each
and every one of them the same promise- this
is their forever and ever home and that they
will be loved and cared for every day. These
horses are still being used to help us teach
kids about horses in general, as well the importance
and knowledge of how to properly care for them
as well as basic horseback riding. It is very
important to us these young people understand
how to care for these amazing animals and that
they might even carry this compassion and knowledge
into other aspects of their lives as well.
We have formed the Fancy Jordan Foundation
in honor of Fancy to help support the promise
that we've made. The expense of properly caring
for these horses can add up quickly, so we
are asking for your help. Any monetary and/or
product donations that you can provide would
be greatly appreciated. We are a 501(c)3 foundation
and we can provide you with a receipt for your
donation.. |
